BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Sumayah Taliaferro, a native of Atlanta, Georgia attended Brown University and Alpert Medical School of Brown University followed by training in the Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Program and residency in dermatology at Howard University. She is Founder/Medical Director of Atlanta Dermatology & Aesthetics, PC which offers comprehensive care in medical and cosmetic dermatology. She is known for providing careful surveillance of skin cancer and thoughtful solutions for acne, aging skin, hyperpigmentation/pigmentary disorders, alopecia, sensitive skin, and atopic dermatitis. She also has special interests in cutaneous manifestations of internal disease and cosmetic dermatology encompassing laser treatment of the skin, cosmeceuticals, and various treatments for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Taliaferro has co-written chapters in Treatment of Skin of Color (Taylor et al), Aesthetic Surgery for Men (Jeffords, et al) and Fitzpatrick's Dermatology in General Medicine, the premier textbook of dermatology. She is a past president of the Atlanta Association for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and an active member of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, the History of Dermatology Society, the Skin of Color Society, the National Medical Association, and the Atlanta Medical Association. She served on the Board for the Medical Association of Atlanta, served as “Doctor of the Day” at the Georgia State Capital, and participated in the Georgia Physician’s Leadership Academy.
