POH12 The Magic Wand Initiative: Engaging Clinicians in Problem-Driven Innovation in Dermatology
DESCRIPTION
This interactive “Magic Wand” brainstorming session will guide participants through a problem-based innovation method developed at Massachusetts General Hospital. The Magic Wand approach begins with identifying unmet clinical problems in dermatology, then refining them through group discussion to highlight the most solvable components. Participants will actively contribute their own problem-driven needs, collaborate to refine ideas, and explore opportunities for solutions that could be translated into commercially viable applications. This method has led to multiple NIH- and industry-funded projects and prototypes, and aims to equip attendees with practical tools to integrate innovation into their own clinical practice.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Engage clinicians in the process of identifying and solving unmet medical needs unique to dermatology
Describe the process of technological innovation to clinicians
Formulate an approach of how innovation can be used by clinicians to identify problems worth solving and develop new technological solutions
