DESCRIPTION

As a subspecialty, inpatient consultative dermatology, dermatology hospitalists play a significant role in the care of critically ill patients. The inpatient dermatology team, composed of medical students, residents, and faculty, works closely with their physician colleagues. In this session, we will feature speakers from three academic teaching hospitals who will share their invaluable experiences in evaluating and/or managing Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) mimickers, oral ulcers, and complex cutaneous infections.

This session is not certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1.

Recognize mimickers of SJS/TEN in hospitalized patients.

2.

Evaluate and manage complex oral ulcers in the inpatient setting.

3.

Define infection control for the inpatient dermatologist.
