F101 Basics of Cutaneous Surgery
DESCRIPTION
This session is aimed to teach basic approaches to a patient needing a surgical procedure. Presurgical planning including location specific approaches, surgical prep, and anesthesia will be discussed. Surgical technique including excision and suturing methods will be presented, Additionally, post surgical care will be discussed including bandaging, antibiotics, wound care and complications.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Perform basic surgical techniques including excision planning, suture techniques, and closure options.
Recognize complications and discuss prevention and approaches to management.
Review important surgical anatomy, danger zones, as well as instruments and suture selection.
