DESCRIPTION
This forum provides an in-depth exploration of dermoscopy in special anatomical sites, including the face, volar surfaces of the hands and feet, and the nail unit. Participants will learn to recognize site-specific dermoscopic structures and patterns, differentiate between benign and malignant lesions, and apply diagnostic algorithms tailored to these unique areas. Emphasis will be placed on the distinct structural and histological characteristics influencing dermoscopic findings. This didactic course will define the dermoscopic structures of importance with exemplar case examples to help attendees enhance their diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making, ultimately improving early detection and management of skin cancers and other dermatological conditions in these challenging regions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Recognize the unique dermoscopic features specific to the face and apply appropriate diagnostic algorithms to improve the accuracy of facial lesion assessment.
Identify the key dermoscopic features of lesions involving the nail unit, distinguish between benign and malignant nail abnormalities, and apply dermoscopic criteria to enhance the early detection of nail melanoma and other nail disorders.
Recognize the unique dermoscopic patterns of lesions on the volar surfaces of the hands and feet, differentiate between benign and malignant pigmented lesions on the palms and soles, and apply appropriate diagnostic algorithm and dermoscopic criteria to improve diagnostic accuracy.
