U074 Discoveries That Will Change Your Practice: Basic Science Updates for Dermatologists
DESCRIPTION
The session will be focused on reviewing recent basic science discoveries within cutaneous T-Cell lymphoma, melanoma, the microbiome and neuropathic itch and their impact on the practice of dermatology. The session will be directed toward practicing dermatologists looking to stay up to date with scientific literature and dermatology residents looking for additional board preparation and practice preparation.
Scientific literature is expanding at a rate that makes reviewing all pertinent literature in one's field impossible. Practicing dermatologists often find it difficult to keep up with basic science advances, in favor of reading clinical journals. However, basic science advances inform therapeutic options, and prognostication of side effects, response to therapy and patient survival. Our goal is to translate recent scientific advances into actionable clinical practice updates.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Summarize updates in microbiome research and the effects on the practice of dermatology
Summarize updates in the pathogenesis of cutaneous T cell lymphoma, melanoma, and neuropathic itch and the effects on the practice of dermatology.
