F027 Documentation and Coding: Getting Paid and Passing Audits
DESCRIPTION
Insurer scrutiny of every aspect of the practice of medicine, including dermatology, has never been higher. There is a constant barrage of new payment policies and documentation requirements, as well as more frequent auditing and review of medical records. This session is designed to educate on the latest in insurer reimbursement concerns so dermatologists can be paid appropriately for what we do and stay out of audit hot water. In addition, this year we will provide resources for insurer downcoding.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Utilize appropriate modifiers when coding for dermatology services
Examine insurance company rationales for downcoding of high level E/M dermatology visits and utilize the resources of the AAD to assist with appropriate appeals.
Identify available resources and develop an appropriate plan of action if targeted for insurer audit.
