W001 Hands-on: Introduction to Everyday Nail Surgery
DESCRIPTION
This session provides a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience focused on the anatomy, diagnosis, and surgical management of common nail disorders. Learners will begin by reviewing the anatomic structure of the nail unit and understanding how these features inform diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making. The course will cover best practices in sterile preparation, anesthesia techniques, and post-operative care specific to nail surgery. Through guided, practical instruction from leading experts in the field, participants will gain proficiency in essential nail procedures, including nail unit punch biopsy, matrix shave, nail unit wedge biopsy, lateral longitudinal biopsy, and intralesional injections. By the end of the session, learners will have developed the confidence and skills to effectively incorporate these techniques into their clinical practice.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Review anatomic considerations of the nail unit and how these guide diagnosis and management of common nail disorders.
Discuss best practices of sterile prep, anesthesia, and post-operative management of nail surgery.
Perform the rudimentary nail procedures needed for the general dermatologist and nail surgeon: nail unit punch biopsy, matrix shave, nail unit wedge biopsy, lateral longitudinal biopsy, and intralesional injections into the nail unit.
