U039 Skin Signs of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
DESCRIPTION
Come with us on a journey to explore the multifaceted presentations of Crohns and Inflammatory Bowel disease as it affects the skin. We will ferret out the common and uncommon physical expositions. The complete work up will be laid bare. Included is a thorough review of associated conditions that should prod the clinician to look for Crohns or IBD in such patients. An extensive smorgasbord of treatment options will conclude the hour lecture. The learner will leave prepared and unsurprised when such cases end up in your clinic.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. The learner will explore the spectrum of cutaneous manifestation associated with Crohns and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases as it relates to the skin
2. Our participants will be able to distinguish skin signs of Crohns and IBD from those Allergic phenomenon, drug eruptions and nutritional deficiencies.
3. Develop an evidence based diagnostic approach to patients with suspected IBD skin lesions using appropriate work up, labs, biopsies and imaging and formulate initial plans for long term care including drugs
